Ask Patents is a question and answer site for people interested in improving and participating in the patent system. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Currently we are designing a web service that will provide patent data within our Intranet to several consuming applications. In order to be independent from the provider of that data we plan to introduce a patent interchange XML format that will contain the structured patent information.

In order to not reinvent the wheel we started to have a look if some authority already has done the job to define a XSD/DTD or even better if an international standard exists several authorities have agreed upon.

So far we have found

Unfortunately we cannot tell which of these is the patent interchange format to pick in terms of widest acceptance.

Do you know any other format we can use to distribute bibliographic patent information or can you recommend one of the three for this scenario?
