What role did exhibits 2 and 67 play in this litigation and patents about it? They reference a 1996 agreement between me and Amazon.

The list of references in the patent are references the examiner had available and considered in the course of granting the patent. Some of the references listed are related to some litigation that occurred before the patent was issued. To see if the two documents you mention were very relevant to the patent being granted you could download and study the entire back-and-forth between applicant and USPTO available on Public PAIR. –  George White May 7 at 21:10
