I seem to own this desk. The desk and chair both have PAT 1. 883. 322 in the metal. Does this mean the item I own is a first/or only production model? I'm not exactly sure how to go about my newly found piece of history.

This chair and desk were covered by the patent number 1,883,322. It is easy to look up at google/patents. google.com/patents/US1883322 nothing in that number indicates anything other than the maker thought it was covered under that number. It is not a design patent, but a regular utility patent. It might have been stamped anytime during the patent's life or even a little while after. –  George White Jul 16 '14 at 17:45
