Can I produce and sell this patents product? It expired since it's in a patent from more than 50 years ago? Pat. US 2892491

You can't sell the patent but you could make and sell the product it describes. This is the technology broadcast function of the US Patent and Trademark Office.

Be careful though because if it was manufactured they might be new patents referencing this one and a particular product may have a newer patent that would prevent you. This is called freedom to operate. –

Good luck;)

I am his daughter perhaps it maybe but it was used by the U.S. government during the VietNam War and I would question whether or not they would release this particular patent to be sold. Also there is the original exampled displayed to the government still in the hands of the family members so any deviation from it would be easily identifiable and therefore possibly deemed a fraud and cause for a lawsuit or whatever.

This is not a helpful answer. A patent is only enforceable for a limited time and the patent expire many years ago. You have absolutely no rights to keep anyone from using the invention described by it. – Eric Shain Apr 12 '17 at 1:44
  • Since the patent is just a way of unmounting a tire, I can't believe the US government would have much issue with it. After all, the patent was published something like 60 years ago. – Eric Shain Aug 15 '17 at 0:09
